The six “Ed’s” of Artificial Intelligence

The six "Ed's" of Artificial Intelligence

Clients often ask me ...

"How can I safely scale AI across my team?"

This is a most important question to consider.

Those of us who have been on the AI discovery journey for many years have evolved our competence along with the technologies.

  • Has our team been on the same journey?
  • Do they have the skillset and subject matter expertise to identify when the AI is hallucinating?

What are the reputational, legal and financial risks if my AI misses the mark, breaches privacy, or embarrassing information quality is sent to a client?

The six "ED's of AI provide a helpful checklist to increase the upside and reduce the risk when scaling AI productivity across your team.

Here are the ED's ...

  1. Well selectED - Choose the most suitable AI for the job. While not as important as it was 6 months ago, selecting the right AI provided does impact results.
  2. Well educatED - Often the all of internet AI large language models will discover and match patterns that provided unwanted results - Have you ever experienced the "Beige" AI result? This flows from whole of internet education. For some use cases a private AI is a better choice, where the knowledge base can be curated and tailored.
  3. Well instructED - This is the prompt. The old computer analogy of G.I.G.O i.e Garbage in garbage out, holds true with Artificial intelligence. Creating a prompt with the right background information, content, clear instructions and outcomes is vital. Each AI provider has their quirks and idiosyncrasy.
  4. Well supervisED - Ensuring the AI maintains quality & consistency. This may be human or system supervision - ideally a combination of both. Catching any errors before they escape into the wild.
  5. Well embeddED - Making the AI a seamless part of daily routines, embedded into your best practice. Make the best way also the easist way for your teams.
  6. Well LicencED - Single seat AI licencing is relatively simply. The challenge with teams is that many licence models do not scale well across teams. Some usage based agreements are too  complex to understand, leading to bill shock - Choosing the right model for a team is vital for your ROI.

So when you are planning your AI rollout, give the six "ED's" of AI due consideration ...

  1. Well Selected
  2. Well Educated
  3. Well Instructed
  4. Well Supervised
  5. Well Embedded
